They have their headquarter stationed in Amstelveen, where they receive their clients. The building has just been renovated and therefore they asked me to design an artobject that stands for the 26 countries that represent Britisch American tabacco.

Rocking Felt-Chair

–Rocking Chair, Felted wool, Movement Assignment: I started with just a simple material. By analysing it, a new idea for an object arised. I was inspired by wool. This material has a interesting quality: to produce felt out of wool, the only tool you need is water compared with movement. This fact I wanted to use in my project. The result is a rocking-chair, covered in wool. I took the classic rocking-chair in which grandmother always braided wool and made the modern version of it: the felt-chair. The movement in this chair will provide the felting-proces en eventually the chair will be felted the strongest at the areas where the movement was intens. After a long time and a lot of movement, an exact shape will appear of the person which used the chair the most. The areas without any intens movement (no felting-proces), will still have the roughness of the pure wool.
